Commuting To Uni: Transport Options Around Kingston!

Train
If your primary campus is Penrhyn Road or Knight’s Park, your closest train stations will be Kingston and Surbiton respectively. Whilst both stations aren't too far of a walk from either campus (about 10-15 minutes), Surbiton does tend to have more frequent trains running through it due to its position on the main South Western Railway line; make sure to check the train timetables to see which station would be best for your commute.

If your primary campus is Roehampton Vale or Kingston Hill, consider either Norbiton or Kingston; Kingston has good connecting bus links due to its close proximity to Cromwell Road Bus Station. The nearest London Underground station from these campuses is Southfields, but you will still require a bus/buses to commute the remainder of the way.

Public Bus
Kingston and its surrounding areas has an extensive and regular public bus network which makes commuting to and from university incredibly easy. Whether you're traveling on the SL7 from East Croydon or on the 281 from Hounslow, most buses arriving in the area stop at Cromwell Road Bus Station and Eden Street (town centre). Both are only a short walk to the Penrhyn Road and Knights Park campuses.

From Cromwell Road, the 85 to Putney Bridge and the K3 to Putney Vale both stop near Roehampton Vale and Kingston Hill.

KU Bus
Whilst the public bus isn't too pricey (TFL: £1.75 per journey), the KU Bus is even better - it's a free inter-site bus which runs regularly throughout all four campuses (and halls of residence!) during term time. Check out the KU App for bus timetables and further information.

Cycle/Walking
Understandably, cycling/walking isn't an option for everyone - especially if you're a student commuting from a considerable distance. However, if you're commuting from a surrounding area, these are some great options to consider. Not just are they great for the environment, but they're beneficial to your health and wellbeing and can help you clear your head both before and after class.

Hope this helps - and best wishes to any commuting students this year!
