parents moving abroad

for context: we do not have a mortgage and my son got the minimum maintenance loan for this school year. We are in the process of leaving the UK permanently and only 1 parent will have a job overseas. this will mean that my son will be left here to live by himself (his sole address will be the university) and the household income will change. will he be able to get more for his maintenance loan? what does he need to do to let SFE know.

Hi there,

You would continue to support the application each year he's under 25 even if you're not living in the UK. Is he currently in his first year? Thanks, Jason

he'll be starting his first year this month. we would continue to support him but since only 1 parent is working - and it is abroad, the household income would change.

Hi there,

Will the household income drop by 15% or more since the 23/24 tax year?

Thanks,
Claire
