South college Durham food & groceries

I’m a first-year international student moving into South College soon. I’d love to know where people usually buy their groceries and whether students tend to order takeout or use food delivery. Are there any good food spots recommended ? Thank you 🥹

Hey! I lived in Butler and we tended to share Tesco deliveries as a flat. There is a small Tesco in town that students mainly use or you can take a bus up to the retail park where you'll find bigger/cheaper alternatives like Aldi. I would recommend delivering food or getting a bus as it isn't ideal carrying groceries back up the hill.

Hey, I'm also a first year student moving into South this year, and I'm coming all the way from Jersey so I can relate to being unfamiliar about everything! I've heard some flats do group orders, from Tesco and also Asda, and there are a few shops near by if you wanted to get the bus back. I think there might be minimal or not too many take-aways just because of money but I'm sure if you felt like it you could get one alone easily.
