Hi, I like to know the placement opportunities available for Biomedical science students and do we have any stats on how many students go into placements?

Hi there!

Students on the BSc Biomedical Sciences course have the option to take a year in industry between Years 2 and 3. These placements can be based either in the UK or abroad. While it’s up to you to apply and secure the role yourself, the University provides support for anyone interested in going down this route. I’m not sure of the exact percentage of students who choose to do a placement, but I know that many do take up the opportunity and it’s open to anyone who wants it.

If you’re studying the MBio Biomedical Sciences course, you can instead complete an industrial placement as part of your final year.

Hi there,

Placements for the MBio Biomedical Sciences course are not guaranteed, but you’ll receive plenty of guidance and support from our dedicated team to help you secure one. This includes advice on applications, CVs, interview prep and connecting with organisations that regularly take on our students.

If you’re not able to secure an external placement, you’ll still have the opportunity to carry out your extended research project in university-owned laboratories.

So either way, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience and the chance to develop the practical and research skills that are a core part of the MBio programme.

Best wishes,

Hi there,

It’s true that Warwick isn’t built directly into a town or city, but the campus is really self-contained and has pretty much everything you need within a short walk. You’ll find cafés, restaurants, study spaces, a supermarket (and more shops just a little further off campus), a cinema, theatre, gym, sports facilities, a health centre and plenty more.

If you do feel like heading off campus, both Coventry and Leamington Spa are only a short bus journey or Uber ride away, so you can easily enjoy the mix of a campus community with access to city life whenever you want it.

One of the things that makes Biomedical Sciences at Warwick engaging is the variety of teaching methods. You won’t just be sat in lectures all the time. You’ll also take part in workshops, labs and tutorials, which keeps learning interactive and varied.

In first year, almost all of the modules are core, so you’ll probably find that some topics appeal to you more than others. From second year onwards though, you get much more flexibility. For example, this year I’ve been able to choose four optional modules, so it’s much easier to tailor the course to your interests.

So while everyone’s idea of “fun” is different, the mix of teaching styles and increasing choice as you progress definitely helps keep the course interesting.

Hi there,

Sorry for the slightly delayed response!

For offer timings: Warwick doesn’t release offers for Biomedical Science (or most courses) all at once. Admissions teams review applications in batches, and because of the equal consideration deadline (14th January 2026), many offers aren’t sent out until January–March. Some applicants may hear earlier, some later but all of this is completely normal, so don’t worry if you haven’t heard back yet.

In terms of my own grades when I applied, I took:

Biology A*

Chemistry A

Geography A*

EPQ A*

Best wishes,
Joseph
