Hi, I will be commuting 40 minutes to Bath to attend the University of Bath. I wondered if someone could advise me on the best places to leave my car during the day, and how to get to and from the university? I understand that Lansdown Park and Ride is quite convenient to leave a car for an entire day but I am struggling to find straightforward information about how to get from there to the University. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you

Hiya! Glad to hear you’ll be coming to Bath!
I would first of all recommend seeing if you are eligible for a parking permit on campus as that seems like it would be the easiest option for you. There’s more info on the eligibility criteria here. It is important to note however that the car parks do fill up. When I was driving to campus I found it difficult to find spaces if I arrived after about 9:45.
The park and rides could also definitely be a good idea, as parking in the city centre would be quite expensive all day, not to mention the traffic is pretty terrible. I think the problem with the Lansdown P&R is that it stops at the top of town, whereas you would be needing to get the bus from Dorchester Street near the train station so it would be about a 10 minute walk. The other park and rides, like Odd Down, stop closer to the bus stop. But if you don’t mind the walk then that could definitely be an option.
Otherwise I would recommend getting a train into the city if you have a station near you that goes to Bath. Bath Spa station is right opposite the main bus stop for the uni bus so that would be the quickest way to get into the city centre.
I hope some of that will be helpful for you! If not I’m happy to help with some other recommendations.
