We use your predicted grades for academics (if you haven’t yet achieved them), and UCAT. At this stage, academic 30%, Ucat 20% and the remaining 50% comes from interview should you be invited.

Hope that helps!

Hello UofA team 👋

My son is applying for medicine at Aberdeen, and we were registered for the open day last weekend. However, unfortunately due to the storm our travel plans were cancelled. I believe it’s possible to arrange midweek campus tours, but I also just wanted to check if there will be any other medical campus open days scheduled? I emailed [email protected] earlier this week but not received a reply yet. Many thanks.

Hello, sorry for the delay in replying and I hope you have received a response at this point! I'm sorry to hear of the disruption to your travel. Unfortunately campus visits for Medicine are no longer running this year but if you did want to come visit to see around our Old Aberdeen campus then you are welcome to. You can contact [email protected] if you do have any questions about the city or our campuses and we would be happy to advise you.
Also if your son is invited to interview then there will be tours of the Foresterhill Medical Campus alongside the interview days, usually in mid-December.

I hope this helps and please let us know if there are any questions we can help with!

Your son will absolutely receive a confirmation email from us. We are having a small technical issue at the moment, but please be assured, if your son can see Aberdeen on his UCAS Hub, we have got his application. Hope that helps!

Hi Mackalyn, I absolutely appreciate your concern, but as above, if your daughter sees Aberdeen on her Hub, we will have it.

Hi, thank you for answering all our questions! I’m an international applicant with achieved 2A*2A ucat 2030 band 2, what are the odds that I got an interview? (I’m so worried of not getting one right now)
Also is there any penalty for gap year students?

No penalties for gap years! We don’t know yet, we don’t get UCAT scores until early Nov. As soon as we know, you’ll hear from us so just make sure you check emails regularly (and junk folders).

Hello UofA
I'm applying with a HNC in applied science for gateway at aberdeen (that's the only one I can apply for) but it had mentioned achieving it at first attempt, I had failed one of my unit tests but did a resit and passed would I be eligible to still apply? I am care experienced, MD20 and previously had free school meals.

I completed REACH and was told it would add a 10% boost to my UCAT score...does UofA acknowledge this? Also, when are candidates contacted about interviews?

Hello 👋, as long as you pass the graded unit at first attempt, that shouldnt be a problem.
