UKMT for medicine?

Thinking of entering for the January 2026 intermediate level UKMT maths challenge. Would it be worth the effort to enter this and other similar maths competitions as someone who wants to study medicine or would it be better to put the time towards something more related to medicine. If so are there any similar competitions for Medicine/chemistry/biology people would recommend?

It shows interest beyond the curriculum and a top result might get you an invitation to a National Maths Summer School.

It definitely shows your general problem solving skills and academic potential so I would say if you like Maths at all do it but don't worry if you don't do amazing because it's more the participantion that would found.

You can also think about doing chemistry and biology olympiads and entering medicine essay competitions.
