Are you allowed to bring a car? Many unis forbid it.

They can, you have no right to bring a car - if you bring a car without permission the uni can withdraw accommodation. This is often a rule that the local council has introduced to prevent too many student cars.

Parking facilities are not available for residents at Athena Hall for example..

I think @Muttley79 means you have no right to bring the car actually onto uni property and most unis do go out their way to discourage it or make it difficult.

I don't know Suffolk uni but even with a parking permit you'd only be able to use the main car park, not the Wharf or Athena ones as they close at night, the website seems to imply there is a daily charge on top of the permit cost as well.

You'll often find the streets around campuses very heavily restricted with yellow & red lines or expensive paid parking.
