Official Physics Applicants Thread | 2025-2026

If you're applying to university for Physics for 2026 entry, this is the place to introduce yourself to fellow applicants, ask questions and share your experience of applying so far. :yep:

Ice breaker questions:

A level / BTEC / IB / Higher subjects and predicted grades?

Which universities are you thinking of applying to?

Do you have any questions/concerns? Is there anything TSR can help you with?

Wishing you all the best with your application!

Hello! Physics and Philosophy over here but it'll do haha

- Not any of those systems (I'm international), but I'm taking Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Technical Drawing, History, Philosophy, English (second language) and Spanish! Yes it is as much work as it sounds but it's also interesting because it's quite interdisciplinary

- Oxford, Durham, St Andrews

- Do you guys think I should base my personal statement on physics or the philosophy of physics? I'm doing both for now but I'm also applying to Physics by itself so IDK...

Hi, i want to do Physics with astrophysics
im currently doing A levels Maths and Physics Predicted AA with BTEC level 3 extended certificate in engineering Predicted Distinction and As Level further maths that i started this year
i wish i picked further maths over engineering as it limits me mentally and physically as if i knew i had a chance at oxbridge or imperial i would probably work harder but im still looking at Durham, Edinburgh Manchester and Sheffield as my main picks im not sure on my last one
If anyone can give advice on stuff i can do from home to improve my chances into getting in an astrophysics course it would be greatly appreciated
