Hi, I'm in Y13 applying for bio at oxford soon. I'm predicted A*A*A* in bio, chem and psych and had some questions. Some people have been talking about how the third question for the PS should be as short as possible for humanities and was wondering if that carries over? Also, how much depth should i go into explaining concepts in my statement? as I've seen some use a lot of characters on fine detail and some doing more of a broad overview.

I dont know if you went to the oxford open day in july, but there was a workshop on personal statements where they said the 3rd question should ideally be the shortest. the example statement was for biochem. your predicted grades are amazing, im only at an A*AA 0_0 (also applying for bio). how is your interview prep so far?

Thanks, I went to the open day but must've missed the workshop! is there any other key advice I missed? Or did they give a reason why the third should be the shortest? I've had a couple interview prep sessions where my teacher starts from A level knowledge and kinda leads through expansions I have to figure out which has been fun so far. How's yours going? Also, which college are you applying to? I don't know anyone applying for Bio :frown:

Hiii! I’m predicated 4A*s in bio, chem, geo, and an EPQ (related to biology).

I’m applying for an MBiol or equivalent at Oxford (Brasenose), Manchester, Imperial, Exeter, and Cardiff.

I’m really confused on interview prep, so that’s my main concern at the moment!

I've heard mixed things but my second's longest because of competitions and stuff. How important is winning a competition? Just found out I won something good in time to put it on my statement but I don't know how much they will care. Is there a big difference between entering a competition and winning for unis because i'm not sure if I should stress it on my PS

Depends what the competition is and how relevant the subject matter is to the subject you are applying for.
