Occupational therapy is really boring

So I’ve been in university studying OT, on my third week now. Done inductions, basic life support, manual handling, infection control and six lectures so far.

I must say it is so boring. I get on with most of my coursemates. But the classes I want them to end so quickly they’re so boring, not learning anything a normal human wouldn’t know anyway, and not challenging at all. And I know what the lecturer is going to say before they say it, they speak so slowly. The lecture could be finished in 30 minutes but they drag it out to two hours.

Most students will experience boring lectures during their courses due to the content and/or the competence of the lecturer. Lectures also tend to be less interactive than the school lessons you are used to so it is a different experience. First year content to some extent eases students into the uni experience and brings everyone up to the same standard. It will become more challenging as your course progresses. When do you start placements?

Mandatory training for healthcare is awful. At least it’s out of the way now.

Can you tell me a bit more why you think it’s boring? I’m considering studying this
