Denied progression

Hi Everyone, I would really like your help. I missed one of my exams due to MC and applied for and recieved and approved EC Declaration due to diagnosed ADHD. All my other modules are at least passes with majority being 50, 60 and even 2 70%. I have been practically begging my university to allow me to go onto 3rd yr and trail the module but they deny me due to the course being accredited.

I dont know what to do. It seems like my only options are to repeat that single module again. I already did that for a few module in 1st yr and dont wanna do it again. I even email the pro vice Chancellor for help, got referred to the student team and was told I should "refrain" from doing that. I have used up my funding (if I wanna save the last year of funding) and would have to work this year to pay for tuition and rent. Im not complaining that I'll have to work but rather waste a year.

I really am not sure what to do. Would it help if I contacted the accrediting organisation for help? Is there anything else you could think I could do?

The current outcome is that im not allowed progression. I dont think basically begging them will do much good. But I dont know what to do. Ive been emailing since the 11th and they dont change their answer

I’m so sorry to hear this, i fully sympathise with you. You’re not alone… I’m going through the same thing. they’ve called me in for a meeting on Monday to discuss this, they know how daunting it’s been for me.

Try and contact your regulating body. I contacted mine and they said “Universities may seek approval from us for changes to this if feel there is appropriate justification for granting exemptions. It would be for the University to contact us directly to seek approval for this if they feel there is appropriate reason to do so in this situation.”

Yes, and they repeated what they explained in the first post. Not really Lol-worthy.

Yes, you should contact the regulators of your degree and explain.

The accrediting organisation and the Engineering Council have both said that they do not deny progression with trailing modules, as long as all modules are at least passed. I have repeated this to the Uni but they said its not possible. They said my *only* option is an academic appeal but thats a useless waste of time since it cant give me what I want. Explicitly says so🫠

Oh no i am so sorry to hear that. 🥺, i sympathise with you heavily. i’m still going through mine and i get the decision on tuesday. it’s crazy how these are the regulators yet what they say still doesn’t hold weight! i advise you to appeal if you want it that bad, it’s worth a shot even if you’re feeling hopeless you know you’ve done everything you can. or complain to the OIA. i have a GP letter to explain the detrimental effects this will have on me and advised them to let me progress. I hope this year is good for you and just remember everything happens for a reason.

Its so so annoying no? Like I understand they may have a worry about failing the module later anyway but surely its better to allow progression (when there is clear evidence of academic improvement since getting ADHD medication) than to waste a year. Id glad do the extra year after if I need to. And the vice Chancellor said he shouldn't get involved. The appeal at my uni is just a last ditch effort for EC tbh. Its sayit its to consider circumstances previous unaware of. And the possible outcomes are just repeat opportunities and it explicitly says that progress with trailing module is not possible. Im so done. I think ill do what someone suggested and find some work around my degree, but that will be so annoying and hard to find and then to get🙃🙃
