Dentistry at Glasgow Universitt

Hey I sat My UCAT today and got a score of 2040 with a band 2. I have 8A’s at national 5 (maths,bio,chem,Spanish,home ec,english,business,geography).

I also achieved 5A’s at Higher level (human bio, chem, maths, english, spanish)

i’m a little bit worried about my UCAT, does it seem like a reasonable score ?

I'm not very knowledgeable about dentistry applications, so I can't help loads.

However, I recommend first checking the University of Glasgow's website to see if they specify a UCAT band/score threshold.

If they don't, you could email them and ask what the cut-off has been in previous years so that you have an idea of what it may be this year.

You should do these things for the other universities that you're interested in applying to as well.

Hope this helps 😊

Hey! Firstly well done on sitting the UCAT!

I too just sat my UCAT today with a score of 2010, Band 1.
Checking the preliminary offical UCAT scores show they're between 6th and 7th decile, so just above average.

Sadly glasgow doesn't release the cut-off score during the application cycle. But they provide a spreadsheet detailing previous UCAT cut-off scores for interviews (But with the previous UCAT scores containing AR). -> BDS Admissions Statistics
Along with using the 2024 UCAT Statistics, the lowest result invited to Glasgow for interview was 2600 (or a 61st percentile, assuming you're a home candidate).

You could also consider Dundee for dentistry, as they do not have a minimum cut-off score for UCAT.
After emailing them, 'We will assign a pre-interview score which is made up of your academic achievements (60%) and your UCAT score (40%). We don't take the situational judgement test into account at this stage, however a Band 4 may influence our decision when it comes to making offers.'

I hope it helps, and good luck on your application!
