re appling to university 1st year as an already enrolled student

i am seriously regretting my choice of law so i intend on re applying via ucas with my 2025 exam results for history. i was wondering if i should get a new reference from a university tutor or use my previous reference from my history teacher. ideally i'd rather use the latter since its directly related to the programs i am applying to + i want to send off my ucas application ASAP so i'm not sure if there are any tutors that even know me well enough at this point to write a reference.... i was wondering if anyone could advise me on what to do in this case. thanks
Are you withdrawing from your course now before your fee liability kicks in and thus would not be studying at the current uni? If so your school reference is probably fine.

If you would be continuing in your current course I believe some unis may expect your reference to be written by someone at your current uni and it may raise red flags if you don't use them. Although that said, I have done this before (many years ago) and used my school reference - you do need to list the uni and degree course in your qualifications section as an incomplete/pending award though to declare your current study (that is mandatory).

Why are you aiming to send your UCAS application off now? There's no benefit in sending it earlier rather than later. All applications received before the equal consideration deadline are required by UCAS's contract with the universities to be considered equally.

Currently i'm intending on continuing my studies but I'm seriously considering withdrawing now......
As above, it's up to the uni that you are applying to as to what kind of reference they require - many may ask for one from your current uni.

You can always contact them to ask what they'd expect from a student enrolled elsewhere. If they need a current uni ref you may as well wait until December/January so your personal tutor knows you a bit better and can draft one. Just ensure they have time before the Jan deadline.

Can you not just transfer now to History at your current Uni - if its an internal course transfer you don't need to involve UCAS.

i am planning on doing that too, but the process is honestly much more complex than if i just did it on ucas.
