Alevels as a private Candidate

Is it a bad idea to do Alevel Biology and Chemistry outside of school as I didn’t meet the requirements in my secondary school. I want to do med but I also want to stay at my current school.

Hi @Sarr23445, I guess it depends if you have the financial support to do this as home schooling can be quite expensive. I think it's best you speak to some of your schools advisors on what you want to do and discuss your options. You could email your tutor or anyone you think would be good to discuss this with and arrange a meeting. Have you spoke to your parents about this yet as they may be able to help you?

Yes my parents are not against the idea! Although my main worry is having to complete 5 alevels as I will not be able to just do one in school.
You absolutely 100% do not need to do 5 A-Levels. In fact I would strongly advise against it - you will be burned out, it will cost a fortune, and likely all your grades will suffer as a result of you taking on far too much.

You'd be better off home educating for a year and re-sitting the GCSEs (as a private candidate) that you didn't meet adequately pass, and then starting A-Levels a year "late" at your school and just taking the 3 of them that you want to take (Biology, Chemistry, and a third one).
