A great way to meet people

One of the best ways to meet people and make your uni experience feel bigger than just lectures is by joining a society. Whether you want to meet others from your culture/faith, get involved in politics, try a new hobby, or campaign something you care about - there's literally something for everyone. And if these don't satisfy what you're looking for, you can always start your own!

Here's a mini breakdown of what's available here at MMU:

cultural societies, faith societies, liberation & cause-based societies, political societies, hobbies, media & performance. Societies usually run taster sessions in freshers’ week so you can try them out before committing. it’s honestly one of the best ways to meet people outside your course.

Are you planning to join a society this year (or maybe even starting your own)?

Hi @MMU-UGStudentRep

I totally agree societes are the way to go for creating friends! We also have a 'give it a go week' that is amazing for trying out sports and fun societies without needing the financial commitment.

Personally, I've met some of my closest friends through societies!

So if you're reading this and are in doubt... I just say go for it! What have you got to lose?
