I want to be a dentist with bad gcses

i only got 5 gcses that were grade 7 and above, which really limits my options. is there any point in retaking some gcses? these are my grades, english literature-8, english language-8, photography-7, biology-7, maths-7, physics-6, chemistry-6, psychology-5, spanish-5, media- L2M.
i don’t know what to do right now because i thought a L2M was an equivalent to a 7 but i was wrong 😭. are there any schools i can get into other than bristol or plymouth? assuming i do well in my alevels and ucat.

If you can get into the college you need to, GCSE results really don't matter at all, from a qualification standpoint unis are really only really bothered about your A Levels. Don't worry about it at all.

Hi there,

so firstly, your GCSE grades are really good. When I first opened this post, I was expecting to read significantly lower. You have done really well and should be proud!

Secondly, universities are most interested in your post-16 qualifications, in your case, your A-Levels.

If you do still feel concerned, then to ease your worries I would email Plymouth and Bristol admissions (or even call clearing, should their lines still be open), explaining your GCSE grades and if they meet the entry requirements. You can double check on the website too

Hiya, great to hear you're keen to be a dentist! Although I don't study this course, I've heard great things from dentistry students studying at Plymouth, and if you're interested in the university and need any questions answering, I'm a current student so more than happy to help 😊

You can find entry requirements here and can find out more about foundation years here if you're worried about grades. You can also take a look around on an upcoming open day by booking a space here.

Best of luck! 🙌

QMUL doesnt weight gsces- They weight the UCAS Tariff along with your UCAT. I'm not fully sure what exact grades you need but its best to check
