Biomedical Science to Diagnostic radiography

Todays date: 19/09/2025
Im starting my 2nd year BSc Biomedical Science (IBMS Accredited) on 22/09/2025 and i genuinely intrested in Diagnostic Radiography (from my previous posts saying i got BCC can i get into medicine... that guy) i got in thru clearning. I dont really like labs and also i dont wanna drop of of course, for my first year modules i passed both exams and labs averaging around 60% as lowest and highest is 70.5% even tho i dont like labs i managed but not sure about 2nd and 3rd year esp the disseration (dead...) so i was thinking maybe internal treansfer meant ill be starting late and 2nd option was do my 3 years BMS and do 2 years masters in Diagnostic radiography.

Not sure if ill be competitive enough to get onto the masters but even tho through the internal transfer will mean i start from first year and sfe might cut down for last year cuz DR is 4 years and i am enrolled on 4 yrs BMS due to placement year (if i dont get placement year means ill be enrolled, making it 3 yrs course) so doing masters 2 years making it 5 years in total this way (and job is secured after my masters) where as after BSc Diagnostic Radiography mean ill be competing for a making it harder this way....Plus the upside with my current degree is that im really enjoying my Human anatomy and physiology modules so it just makes sense (i also considered Physiotherapy but nah i like Radiography better)....

So yh please give me advice as im not really sure how to take my next steps... Thank you.

That's fantastic, and I'm happy you received your money back. It gives people who are in similar circumstances hope.

Hi there, I am in a weirdly similar position to you. I was studying biology last year (first year) and I am now taking a gap year so that I can apply for paramedic science at different unis because my uni doesn't offer paramedic science.

Have you contacted your university about doing an internal transfer?

You will still have to a dissertation if you do diagnostic radiography, although if you are interested in the subject it will be easier. In terms of student finance, as you are enrolled on a four year course you are entitled to five years of funding (though on a placement year that funding is reduced). You will do some similar things for DR because you still need a good understand of anatomy and physiology.

I'm not sure I have helped, and if anything I have said is unclear please don't be afraid to ask
