Man Met 2026

Hi I plan on going to man met, if all goes well! I just wanted to ask what people’s experiences was here. Is it a good uni? Also if anyone has done the primary with QTs course here I would love your opinion of the course and the work load. Also how is it for mature students with children. Sorry for the ramble but any advice and tips are welcome.

Hi @Tp1705

Great to hear you're thinking about coming to Man Met to do our Primary Ed course. This is the perfect course if your plan is to teach.

There is a Primary Ed student on our ambassador chat platform so I'd recommend getting in touch with them - they'll be able to give you an idea about the course and the workload involved. Here is the link: Student Ambassador Chat Platform. Typically attendance is three days a week on campus, although when on placement you will be expected to follow the teacher's working pattern.

When you're on the course, there is a lot of support in place around assignments. Our Academic Support Services team help with academic writing, referencing, readings etc. On each unit there is a lecture about the assessment and assignment tutorials as well as the support from your personal tutor and your collaborative learning group (ie. peers).

If you have any questions about entry requirements or pathways to teaching, you are welcome to contact our Course Enquiries team who will be able to advise: 0161 247 6969 or [email protected].

If you need advice about funding, our Student Financial Support team will be able help: 0161 247 1045 or [email protected].

Hope the above info helps. Feel free to ask any questions on here too!

Hi there,
Thank you for your questions!
That's so exciting that you're planning on going to Man Met.
I can't really speak on the primary course you mentioned, but I'd be happy to share my experience at MMU so far. From what I've seen, it's a great uni with lots of different opportunities.

Student Life & Socials

The Student Union is a fantastic resource. They offer a ton of different events, some are free, and some aren't, like day trips, which can be a cool way to learn about history and meet new people. They also have a huge range of societies you can join, all based on different hobbies, courses, or interests. You can even create your own! Recently, I noticed on their website a free gig featuring a new artist, which seems like a fun way to have a new experience.

Student Support

When it comes to academics, there's a lot of help available. You can get support online to help you with assignments or anything else you're stuck on. The Student Union also has a support hub that can help with things like housing or finance, etc, which is really helpful.

Free Activities

A really cool thing Man Met does is offer free activities for students. I signed up for some last year, and it was great. You can find things like yoga, football, zumba, or tennis classes to try out.
I know you also asked about being a mature student with children. While I don't have experience with that, I'm sure the university has resources or societies that can help with that.
Feel free to ask if you have any other questions about life at Man Met! 😊

Hi @Tp1705!

That's really amazing that you're considering Man Met! I'm personally not on the primary course, but from my experience here it's been a really supportive uni. There's loads of help in place for assignments (workshops, drop-in, and one-to-one support), and the tutors are really approachable. When you're a student, you have access to the Vygo App which provides peer-to-peer support and there are primary education peer guides on there to answer any queries you may have as well as PALS (peer assisted learning) where those peer guides facilitate academic sessions. The campus has such a welcoming feel, and there are loads of opportunities both within a course, and outside of it - from volunteering to placements and societies, you can get involved in as much as works for you! With regards to being a mature student and balancing the work load and children, the student support team are really good with advice and support!

Overall, I'd say it's a friendly uni with lots of opportunities to make it work for your lifestyle!

All the best,
Innaya (history second year),
