i'm surprised at the poll results so far...
physics at my college is least polular of the sciences...

Results so far...

Physics 133 42.22%
Chemistry 86 27.30%
Biology 88 27.94%
They're all too hard for my liking... 8 2.54%

Internet users are not a good cross-section of the population and this poll shows it. It also is showing a stereotype to be correct, ah well...

For me Biology and Chemistry tie. I have ended up going with Biology as it is easier to make it accessable to me (I am blind)

definately physics. biology is just organic chemistry (and ecology which doesn't count) and chemistry is determined by electrons which are described by physics. therefore physics is the most important science :p:

Of course by your hierarchical definition. But shall we look at impact on modern society, I'd like to think that chemistry would give physics a run for it's money.

it's odd that people equate profundity with quality. The fact that biology is further up the tree from physics doesn't make it less worthwhile.

I quite agree. Science is science, what flavour of scientist you are doesn't somehow make you better or worse.

Some chemical concepts can be quite difficult to grasp at first but once you do, the subject transforms! Bloody brilliant!

My fave science is physics, and I got a grade 1 at Standard Grade, although I have no idea why because I failed every test the next year. I was crap at every Higher unit but I still think it's the coolest science by far.

physics is like applied maths, chemistry is like a branch or physics which is like a branch of maths and biology is like a branch of chemistry which is a branch of physics which is a branch of maths. That is what I think but don't take that offensively if you have taken that offensively. Physics is my favourite science because I like maths but they are all equally important.
