Economics and data science without data science

Hi everyone, I’d love some advice on whether I should go for my dream courses or aim a bit lower.

About me:

Predicted: 3A* (Maths, Economics, Physics) not doing Further Maths
Academic scholar, UKMT Gold
EPQ on markets and data science
Imperial College entrepreneurship competition finalist

Also done work experience in Goldman Sachs, Bloomberg, Minesec(fintech)

Courses I’m considering:
BSc Economics, Finance & Data Science Imperial
BSc Economics and data science or stats LSE, Bristol, UCL

Realistically not going to get above 6.5 in TMUA

Given my profile (esp. no Further Maths), are these courses realistic or should I focus on slightly less competitive options too? Any tips for strengthening my application (PS, supercurriculars, etc.) would also be appreciated!

LSE is probably unrealistic without FM, the others should be possible as long as you write a good personal statement (and your supercurriculars look great for that). Strong TMUA and interview performance will also increase your chances for Imperial. Just make sure your 5th option is a safety with a high offer rate since your current 4 choices are all very competitive.

Agree completely with this advice! I would also consider the location of the university you are applying to. Given your work experience and the subjects you're applying for seems like work experience and career opportunities are very relevant to you. Perhaps Bath, where placement years for work experience are done by pretty much everyone, could be a good extra option? It's also near Bristol so if you're already considering that area might be worth looking into. Good luck with your applications!
