Which is best for Speech and Language Therapy?

Hi so I am wanting to study speech and language therapy at university next year but I am really struggling to decide which university to go to. I have been to UEA, Uni of Huddersfield, Leeds Beckett, De Monfort, Uni of Essex and reading for open days.
I had been really liking yea and Huddersfield. Huddersfield because it seems to be really cheap (so not as many money worries especially for accommodation) and good with the student union and uea because I thought the lecturers seemed really nice as well as the uni and Norwich. But now after looking at the uni rankings for SLT and looking at the statistics of student satisfaction on the unis Huddersfield isn't looking as good as I thought they did as well as the fact they were saying they aren't in debt at the open day but from looking it up it looks like they are (idk which is true). And although UEA is higher it isn't that high compared to ones like reading. The only problem is I didnt feel like reading seemed that good compared to Huddersfield for the facilities but i am unsure as with SLT I know there are a lot of placements so I'm not sure if this will matter too much anyway.

So I was wondering if anyone has been to any of the universities and if they are good for doing a SLT course.
Thx

Hello! 🙂
It's completely normal to feel unsure where to apply, you aren't alone!
I would highly recommend you pick a university you actually like. This includes the lecturers and the surrounding city. You will be spending 3 (or more) years at university so it's super important to actually enjoy your time.
I personally wouldn't pay too much attention to the rankings because they do change every year, but also employers will look at what you have done. So, it's important you take advantage of opportunities at university as these will be the things that make you stand out at future job interviews.
It's great that you have visited the universities' open days as this will help you to make a decision. UEA has a unibuddy system where you can chat to current students, so it might be worth looking to chat to Speech & Language Therapy students to get an idea of their experience at UEA.
I hope this helps you make an informed decision!
Good luck with your application, I'm sure you will enjoy your course and time at university wherever you go!

(Sorry for the late reply to this - your post was in the wrong forum.)

Rankings don't mean anything for the majority of courses but even less so for healthcare courses. SLT courses are approved by the HCPC and are therefore held to the same standards. It doesn't matter where you study it and your future employers won't care which you uni you went to. Choose the unis that gave you best feeling on open days and where you could see yourself living for three years.
