a level options URGENT

hi i pnly have a week left to switch but i have taken: Maths, FM, ECON , and Physics

I want to do finance or econ at uni

And idk if i shld drop physics bc i like some things like space but atm i am dreading lessons and not enjoying but we r only doing measuring and particles tbf but i just find it so boring and cannot enjoy it

I am thinking of switching to english lit but I just don't know

For refernce i got a 9 in both, in english lit j got full makrs on paper 1 and nearly full on paper 2 , BUT i know it is different at a level

I lkke english lit but the geade boundaries are so high and i do not read as much as others and it is subjective, but then physics is one of the hardest apparently and everyone says if u don't need it then don't take it, but in a way it is more 'straightforward' and shows mathematical skills for unis for finance

I just am so stuck i really do not know what to do pls someone give advice esp ppl who took english lit a level thank uu

Hey, as this is time sensitive ill reply,

Firsly check your top universities, the courses you want and entry requirements, make sure your options match this as it'll make applying to university easier with a higher success rate

If its not needed, pick the subject you like, yes it does differ in a level but arguably its a lot more interesting- it isn't about who reads more but rather who can analyse to a deeper extent and provide logical reasoning within essays etc, grade boundaries are going to be high regardless but if you have the passion it'll make revising, showing up to class and trying for mocks a lot easier which will help in a levels a LOT more than it just being an "easier" subject

I would personally switch to English, also economics and finance often have quite a large chunk of written and analytical aspects, so English may help interlink these and keep your in depth analysis sharp for when you do start at university,

Just remember, nothing is finite, even if you dont get the grades or dont do the right subjects and change your end goal for university there are options, like apprenticeships or clearing that dont require it, you're very young, choose what you enjoy and allow yourself time to explore and experience life, you dont need to know what you want now or gave a solid plan!

Hi there,

I would check your university choice requirements before making any decisions

I did A-Level english along two science subjects, and I found it helped me with essay writing a lot

Kind regards, Jenifer (Kingston rep)
