Is it possible to get into Oxford with low Undergrad & High MA?

Hi all,

Looking to apply for Oxford's 2026-27 Mphil in Global Area Studies with a focus on Chinese IR and politics. I've recently graduated with my BA from CUHK and begun MA studies in the same uni. My undergrad would be classified as a high 2:1 (3.15/4 CGPA) by my University's standards, but I am aware that Oxford's website notes the equivalent of a high 2:1 to be around 3.5 or more...

For extracurriculars my faculty had a joint research program with one of the Colleges in Oxford and I was awarded some funding to participate. Also some minor participation in Mock UNs, an internship at a big corp etc. But not very relevant.

Got a 3.9 in my last semester of BA and an A for my thesis, but idk if that'll contribute to their assessment of my academic capability. I am confident of getting a high master's GPA, but will my undergrad GPA automatically disqualify my application? My low undergrad grades were caused by a series of events during the COVID lockdowns and personal health issues (also couldn't get a proper diagnosis because it was during COVID). I saw the option of submitting ECs, but my faculty couldn't recognize the conditions without proper paperwork....So I'm basically in a dead zone.
