Mathematics and Computer Science

Has anyone studied or is studying mathematics and computer science at university, especially at a Rusell group university. I want to study this course and then later on make my way into finance as a quant dev.

You will find all the info about entry requirements and the structure of each course etc on the relevant course page on each Uni's website. What else do you need to know.

If you go to some Uni Open Days you will be able to speak directly to current students who are doing that course.

The degree is flawless. It provides you with the computer science to develop trading systems and the math for models.to obtain a finance internship, become proficient in Python and C++, and land a quant dev career.

Thanks for the info, what uni are the best for mathematics and comp sci? There isn't an official ranking for this course, unless they are ranked seperately.

Rankings are just marketing fluff - even academics don't take them seriously. And 'RG' is similarly misleading. None of this can tell you if you will like that course or enjoy being at that Uni, or if you will walk into a great graduate job or have a happy life.

There is no quick-fix shortcut - you need to go to Uni Open Days, listen to the subject/course presentations, think about what's on offer there, talk to current students, and then do some calm thinking about what you want to study and where you will be happy for 3 or 4 years.

If you want to enhance your graduate CV, pick a course with a work placement or 'industrial experience', but find out if you get paid, and how much help you get with finding a placement.

Yes, studying maths and computer science at a Russell Group is a good way to get a quant job. Pay close attention to statistics, probability, and coding, and get experience through internships.
