My Timetable as a Primary Education Student

Before starting my course, I was unsure of what my timetable would look like for when I started uni as I knew that it would be very different than Sixth Form schedule. Here is my experience over the last 2 years of studying Primary Education at BCU!

Across the year I have university blocks, when I am only in university, placement blocks, when I am only in placement, and occasionally blocks where I have a mix of both.

During my university blocks, I am typically in university 2-3 days per week. I usually have 2 lectures per day; however, this is sometimes 3 for my core subject modules. My lectures are 2 hours long and I usually have an hour break in between. I use this time to eat lunch, relax with friends and visit the library if I need to borrow any books. I have really enjoyed this timetable as it reduces the number of days that I have to travel to uni but I still am able to get home at a good time, which gives me time to go to the gym and relax before getting an early night! My timetable has been fairly consistent over the 2 years of my course, which has helped me to get into a weekly routine.

My timetable for third year is looking a little bit more intense as our uni block is a little bit shorter due to starting placement after Christmas, but I still have plenty of days off to study and enjoy my final year at university!

On my days off, I try to make sure that I have done all of my post session work and then start to work on my assignment. I try to make sure that I have something planned every day, whether that is doing uni work, working at my part time job, or spending time with my friends.

I find it really important that I also take the time to relax during my university blocks as they are a little bit less intense than placement. I try to make the most of being able to go out during the week as places are often less busy than at the weekend. I have been trying to make the most of getting student discounts before I finish uni! I also have found it helpful to make sure that all my assignments are done before placement, even if they are due when I am on placement as this helps me focus on placement and gives me more time to relax after a busy week in school.
