How common do Cambridge University arrange informal meetings

So long story short I have been back abd forth with Cambridge University admissions and their admissions team wants to have a 20min chat wuth me to discuss my academic profile

How common is this

To put it in context
Am a mature perspective student looking to go back to academia
Cambridge is on goals
So how common is thus for Cambridge to have a private one to one meeting with an applicant prior to any applications being made

I don't think it's common I haven't heard of this, but I assume it's because you're a mature student with potential and they want to make sure you're on a viable path. Is this with a mature college?

Yes it is
Perhaps less useful for your specific case but, while I can't speak for Cambridge, the departmental admissions tutor for the course I had enquired about at UCL kindly arranged to have a meeting with me to discuss things before I applied as a mature student. So I think potentially for mature students for undergraduate courses, subject to time availability, it may not be as uncommon in the HE sector generally and so I think it'd probably make sense for one of the mature colleges at Cambridge to consider doing so at least

I think it'd be a rarity for a school leaver age student though?

Yes it is

I'd assume that's why I'm less familiar with it. It seems like artful_lounger gives a clear explanation why
