Student finance: parents have no income

Hi everyone, I’m applying for Student Finance and I need advice about household income evidence.

My mum is a widow and lives overseas. She has no income, no bank account, and no tax records in her country. Student Finance England (SFE) can’t check anything through HMRC because she’s not in the UK and doesn’t have a National Insurance number.

She is happy to fill in the PFF2 form and sign a declaration that she had £0 income for the relevant tax year.

👉 Has anyone else been in a similar situation, where an overseas parent with zero income and no financial documents was accepted by SFE? Did SFE accept just the PFF2 + declaration, or did they ask for other proof?

Thank you in advance!!

Hi there. If your mum doesn't have income overseas then we won't request any evidence, only the forms. Thanks, Leah.
