Feasibility of Arriving Late - new MPhil

I have a longstanding family commitment I'd really like to attend, but doing so would mean arriving in Cambridge on the 8th of October rather than the 1st. For anyone who has done an MPhil before - is that feasible? Or would I miss so much of the critical early academic / social period that it would have a lasting effect on my experience? Super grateful for any advice you might have.

(For context, it would mean missing matriculation day at my college and induction day for my course, but I would be back for the first day of classes).

I think you'd really regret missing matriculation and the first week. Whether or not that would affect the rest of your experience is hard to say, but I have such strong and fond memories of my first week (as an undergrad).

It would seriously screw you over in my experience. You would miss all the induction programs and support and you'd arrive just as things kicked off. It would be like arriving on an F1 grid still in your domestic car. You'd have no IT set up, no timetable, no Library induction(s) to lab/research skills induction, no Uni card, I'm mean, the more I think about it, the more bonkers is seems. Is there any way you could arrive and then skip out for max 3 days?
