Fast-track Alevels

I'm planning on doing two fast-track alevels RS and Sociology for 2026 entry and I'm between NEC and open study college.

After being scammed by Oxbridge Home learning and seeing mixed reviews for both can anyone tell me which they recommend? Or who has studied with either tell me about their experience?

Hey @miria02!

Although I didn't study a fast-track A-Level specifically, I did study A-Level History of Art through the National Extension College (NEC) and completed the course within a year.

My experience was extremely good; however, it is important to note that the vast majority of your learning will be independent. If you're happy to teach yourself the content and have someone occasionally check exams/assignments for you, NEC is great - the content is easily accessible and presented well. If you want more involved teaching/'tutoring', it may be advisable to look elsewhere. Ultimately, which provider is right for you comes down to your learning style. 🙂

Hope this helps!

Hi Eve!

Thank you so much for your response its very helpful and I'm definitely leaning towards NEC. I don't think I'll have issues teaching myself the actual content but mostly I'm concerned about tutors being responsive with marking and essay feedback. Would you say, in your experience the tutors were fairly responsive?

Many thanks

Hey @miria02,

Tutors were definitely responsive whenever I had a question; I usually received a response to any general enquiry I had in roughly one to two days. Assignment marking and essay feedback usually took a bit longer, with most of my essays being marked within 7-10 working days. However, this was still a lot faster than most of my in-person teachers at college, so I really can't complain on that front! 😆

Best of luck,
Eve (Kingston Rep).

I have studying with Open Study college and have just signed up for another course with them. The course materials are really good and easy to follow, and my tutors have been brilliant. The support i have received has been second to none and the team there are always so helpful. A couple of my friends are also with them and have passed their courses, they recommended them to me
