From sports to cheerleading and baking to board games, the SU is home to all sorts of student societies. And if you can’t find your thing, you can even start your own club! Don’t worry if you’re not all about that night life – student societies are the easiest way to bond with friends who share your interests🥳
Student-led media 📸
Want to be a journalist, DJ, or filmmaker? Most SUs run their own student-led media, like magazines, university radio stations, or university TV. It’s a great way to build skills and have fun! 🎤📰
Support when you need it💚
Uni can be a big change, but you’re never alone. The SU student services are there to help with anything from money worries to academic stress. You'll be able to find networks for international students, LGBTQ+ students and more, to make sure everyone feels welcome and supported🤗
Events and making memories💃
SU is also famous for its packed calendar of events all year round🎉
From the Freshers’ Week (think club nights, fairs, and meetups) to chilled-out movie nights, quizzes, and cultural festivals, there’s always something going on. You can also take part in charity fundraisers, open mic nights, themed parties, and even career workshops.

That sounds like such an exciting and supportive space for students to connect, learn, and grow! Being part of the Students’ Union is a great way to meet new people, explore interests, and build real skills that can help in the future. Joining societies, events, or even student-led campaigns gives a real sense of community. Practical skills, especially in areas like metal roofing, highlight the importance of quality, teamwork, and trust. Just like a strong roof protects a home, a supportive community helps students feel secure and inspired. The right environment can shape confidence and open new doors, making involvement a smart and rewarding step forward.
