Here's a few stories to show how pretentious my school is. There's more but then id end up going on a half hr rant so here i go (its a lot so read as much as u want):
1) Some ppl laugh at students in other schools who do gcse foundation maths (i go to a grammar school so we all do higher)
2) a girl was laughing with her friends abt her friend from outside of her school having dyscalculia
2) Laughed and judged a random student who got 20/30 in an English essay (the teacher gave us an example essay that was written by a real student in an exam (not someone who goes to our school tho obvi)) then I called out a few ppl for their pretentious bs and one girl doubled down and said "im sure this person is nice... but this essay sucks" DEADASS
3) Cackled at me (and the teacher did too) for getting a bio question wrong (Worst part is that NO ONE knew the answer so the teacher had to tell us and ppl brought it up after lesson and the next day)
4) Someone in my set once said "how can ppl be so bad at sports?" (In a judgey tone) DEADASS
5) Someone in my class was crashing out over missing one mark in a maths tests while other ppl around her were holding back tears cos we got 50-60%
6) This was a few months ago but there was a time where a teacher was giving us our TA (teacher assessment) grades so she called us up one by one to tell us but then ppl shouted across the classroom "OMG I got a 9! Omg I got an 8!" When some ppl got a 6 or 7 (ur allowed to be proud of ur grades but don't shout it across a classroom when u know ppl did worse than u and feel insecure abt it)
7) this was in yr 7 so ages ago but there was a time where me and 5 other ppl failed our first German vocab test and when we queued up to resit it at lunch a teacher went up to us and said "ur not good enough for this school! Ur grades aren't good enough! This isnt acceptable in a grammar school!"
8) If students complain abt the school to teachers we get called "entitled"
9) we had an assembly titled "the power of opportunities" so I thought ooh cool but it ended up being an assembly abt just stem the physics teacher leading it said "as a department we're often overlooked 🥺" DEADASS
10) there's obvious favouritism and they only care about the top 20 smart kids in the yr group
11) they only care about stem, sport or music
12) refuse to have ability sets for maths cos "we all go to a grammar school so we're all the same ability" so im struggling in class cos most ppl r good at maths and the teacher spends the lesson glazing the top 4 students in class and barely walks up to the struggling ones
13) in a careers evening, out of 20 careers, only like 4 were non-stem
