A-Level Psychology Application Questions (OCR)

I'm struggling with answering application questions e.g. Describe an application of the social area (4 marks). Is there some sort of formula I can use?

I have a youtube channel - TopPsyche Tutoring - where i explain OCR A level Psych contents. I will be covering these type of questions soon!

if you check mark schemes for those type of questions as in 4 mark application ones, you'll see similarities in what the mark scheme will want and that can guide and give a formula, the most recent 2025 exam had a 4 mark application to get 4/4 you had to:

•

state an appliation

•

explain/describe it (how its used or why)

•

show understanding/knowledge of the principles/concepts of the area (the area that the principle is in) - so this mark isnt actually about the application its just showing understanding of the area

•

linking the principles/concepts of the area to the application through research OR elaborationg on research/theory

for this last point its hard but its basically like your explaining or describing the application throguh the principle of the area in your case the social area and maybe tlaking about some research or psychological theory that kind of supports or justifies the application if that makes sense? yea
