Anyone attending Medway Campus in Chatham Maritime Kent?

I am applying for a Biology BSc Hons course at uog and I wanna know if this course is worth it and if the uni I’m going to be attending at Medway campus is worth commuting to. I wanna know a lot so I could make sure if this is the uni that’s good for me.

Hi,
I hope you are well!😊

It's great to see that you are finding out about student life at the universities you are interested in! Finding a campus that feels like home and welcoming is super important, so it's great to see you asking questions🙂
I used to study at Medway Campus, so thought I'd hop on here and try to give you some insight into the campus😊

Medway Campus is shared between the University of Kent, Canterbury Christchurch, and the University of Greenwich. I studied at Medway Campus, at Kent, during my undergraduate, and while I did not study Biology and wouldn't like to comment on the courses at Greenwich (as I'm not familiar with them), I can tell you a little bit about the campus. Hopefully the University of Greenwich can give you some insight into their courses😊

A few things about Medway Campus:

I live in Medway and commuted to the campus. I really liked the campus because it was really welcoming and friendly!😊

I really liked the campus because there are many pretty old buildings, and the library is also very pretty and full of all the resources and study spaces you could ask for! The library has a nice cafe and there are a few places to eat over the campus which are nice too☕️ The campus is also quite small compared to others, but I really liked this because it was easy to navigate and felt homely to me.

The campus as I said is shared between the three universities so there are lots of students around studying lots of different courses. I really liked this because I met lots of new people and had friends from the different unis through playing netball for the Universities at Medway Team🏃

The Hub Medway combines and delivers students' union activity for all three universities on campus. They put on lots of activities throughout the year and have a few cool societies to join too. You can find out more about The Hub here and the societies on offer.

I would say that overall Medway does not have lots of nightlife. The campus does run some nice nightlife events, but I would say that if you are after a uni nightlife experience then Medway in general isn't the best place for this. This didn't really worry me because I wasn't interested in this, but it's just something to consider.

As each of the universities at Medway has another campus, some run shuttle bus services to the main campus where students can use the library, join societies etc. I know Kent runs a free shuttle bus service to the main campus where there is lots of nightlife and societies going on, so I would check out what Greenwich offers in relation to this as there might be more you can explore!😊

I know you said you was commuting, and Medway campus does have parking. Parking is limited at Medway and there are restrictions I believe on postcodes depending on where students live, so this is something to check out🚗

Why not visit the campus at an open day? It's a great way to get a feel of the campus. You might even get to talk to some current students there too, and could ask any questions about student life at Greenwich then. Greenwich does use a lot of the buildings at Medway, so there is lots on the campus that I might not know about because I used predominantly Kent buildings, so visiting the campus or joining a virtual open day will give you more insight into the Greenwich side of things. The university does have some coming up across all of their campuses, so you can check them out here.

I hope this helps!
Best wishes,
Josie
