Open Day - Travel

Hi,

i am attending the open day on 11th and would like to get an idea to travel options. I will be coming by car (EV) and i can either park on campus or use the Park and Ride.

1) Which Park and Ride is most convenient to get to the Uni and how much it costs for the ticket

2) How is the parking arrangement at the uni?

Hi aaravs,

Great to hear you're planning to join us on 11th October. I think you'll find this page on travelling to our open days helpful.

To answer your questions:

1.

Lansdown park and ride is most convenient. You can drive up there, park for free and get the free bus service we put on to the uni - it runs every ten mins and I'd defo recommend it. Here are details of how to get to Lansdown park and ride, and what you need to do to register and get a ticket.

2.

Parking - we do have a primary car park (East car park) with EV charging ports but these are limited and we're trying to discourage people from driving up if possible as its likely to get very busy. Do feel free to do this if you need to, but we can't guarantee a port will be available so you may have to run on one battery charge.

I hope this helps but if you have any more questions or need more info please shout!

thanks, that's very very helpful, not sure how it was missed.

Another one, if you don't mind. we plan to use the P&R and then once the uni is done , visit the city to get a feel.

How easy is it to travel to the P&R from the city? Or do we need to come back to the Uni to take the bus back?

Use the park and ride, there are two, use whichever is easiest for you to reach. The cost of using the park and ride is very small, £3-4 for the day from memory last time I went into town on it.

The park and ride bus is a very regular service and it stops at a few places along the way. Stress free way of getting into Bath.

Hi! That sounds like a great idea, we always recommend visiting the city when you’re here

All 3 Park and Rides (Lansdown to the north, Newbridge to the west, and Odd Down to the south of the city) have frequent buses to and from the city centre. However, it’s worth noting that they pick up from different points in the centre - there’s some more details about each of their journeys and stops here. The bus to Lansdown P&R picks up from the top of town.

To get between the city centre and campus you would take the U1 / Open Day bus, which runs very frequently and stops near the bus station in the city.

The free and direct bus service to campus from Lansdown P&R is definitely what I would recommend (whereas the others only go to the city centre, where you would then take the U1/ Open Day bus up to campus). There's more info on that here.

Let me know if you have any more questions
