Acting school

I’m applying to unis and acting schools at the moment and I have experience but I don’t know how much experience they are looking for because I’m currently writing my portfolio and I don’t know wether I have enough. Is there anyone who has been through this process and hasn’t had that much experience to get into acting schools and they will judge you off of your audition or is it that you do need quite a bit of experience. Also are you guaranteed an audition for drama schools or do they give you an audition based off of your portfolio?

They are not looking for any experience (apart from sometimes life experience that you can bring to your acting.)

They will be looking at audition for potential and trainability. IN your personal statement they will be looking to know that you understand the rigours of training, the industry and that you have a love of the art form.

By 'portfolio', do you mean your personal statement? Don't worry too much about that. Just talk about the acting you have done, whether that is school plays, or local am dram, or West End contracts, and talk about what you love about it, what it has given you etc. Also talk about what sort of acting you have watched and enjoyed, perhaps? Most of the drama schools will offer everyone a chance to send in a self-tape. After that you might get invited to an in person recall audition, but the first filtering is almost always done by the self-tapes.
