What can you ask your pdt at uni??

So, at uni does anyone know if you can speak to your pdt about personal things even if it doesn’t directly relate to your studies?

Hiya! (:

guessing pdt is standing for personal development tutor? - just correct me if im wrong though!😊 - yep your all good to speak to them with that sorta thing.

Your personal development tutor is someone whos there to support you with your studies and if theres something personal, which may not relate directly to uni but is having an effect on studies, mental health, etc (: - they should be happy to listen and they should also be able point you in the direction of someone else/another part of the uni who specialise in specific types of support, or if your just wanting a wee chat they should be there to support!🤗

Hi there,

PDTs are basically there to support you with anything that you need help with, more info or support with - or anything that is affecting your studies, and that includes your personal circumstances.

I had a friend at uni who was struggling a lot with her mental health whilst studying, and because she kept in regular contact with her PDT about it they were able to get her access to a wellbeing social group, and to help with IMCs and coursework extensions when she needed them.

If you tell them anything with a serious safeguarding concern be aware they may have to tell other people at the uni such as the wellbeing team, but they'll always tell you if this is the case. But other than those circumstances, they're there to support you with whatever you need so personal/pastoral issues are fine to talk to them about 🙂

Best of luck with this year!

Hiya,
Just to add on to what the others have mention, you should be able to go to your personal tutor for advice especially if its affecting your studies. Even if your personal tutor doesn't know the answer to your questions, they should be able to signpost you to the right people or university support service 🙂 (eg. Wellbeing, Academic writing support or student finance teams...)
I hope this helps.
