What would you recommend as a safety school?

Hi there,

I'm a Canadian grade 12 (grad) student who wants to apply to medicine in the UK and I need a good safety school. I'm going to apply to St. Andrews Canadian program and Nottingham, and am considering Oxford but also don't want to waste an application. I have a UCAT score of 2040 (2760 in last year's numbers according to the Medify converter), and a grade average of 95 which I'm pretty sure translates to the bottom cut off of A*A*A*.

Any advice on a good safety school (preferably one that doesn't have the reputation of being a school you only go to if you're failing, I don't know the reputation of too many UK schools, but beggars can't be choosers. Any advice is appreciated

Remember that in the UK it doesn't matter which Uni you go to for Medicine. All degrees are accredited as equal by the GMC, all have the same set syllabus and all lead to exactly the same qualification. If you intend to work in the UK, the NHS will not care where you trained, and neither will your future patients.

Not sure about your Canadian quals - you need to check the detail directly with each individual Uni - but your UCAT is good. If you meet the academic entry requirements in full look at Birmingham, Liverpool, Aberdeen.
