Dental application to Cardiff University

I am currently in my gap year and am planning to apply for dentistry this year. My qualifications are:
UCAT - 2120 + band 2
GCSEs - 98998774 (including combined science 9-8) + D* in BTEC Sport
A Levels (achieved) - A*AA
EPQ - A
MOOC in implant dentistry

I was wondering if an application to Cardiff University for their Dental Surgery BDS course is a good idea for me and not a waste of a UCAS spot. The main concern I had was regarding my GCSEs; having a BTEC and also a 4 in language could hinder my application. A few weeks back I heard that as I have achieved A-levels this could play to my advantage and compensate for the 4 at GCSEs. Please if anyone could share some info, thanks!

It would be risky as you'd probably only score 27/28 points for GCSEs, including the 1 extra point for achieved A-levels.
They score your best 7 GCSEs and you get 4pts for each 8/9 and 3pts for a 7.
Are you contextual or Welsh? If so, you may get additional points to bring you to 28.
Where else you applying?

Looking at Cardiffs website they just say points for achieved A Levels may be added onto your GCSE score. Do they give each achieved A Level points or is it just 1 point over all for having achieved A Levels, if so I’ll longer be able to apply! Thanks xx

It is 1 point only for achievd A-levels and also the max overall score you can get is 28. So if you already have 28 pts from GCSEs, then it makes no difference.
