Cooling off period

Hi guys,
I’d like to ask if you have withdrawn from university during the cooling off period but the first payment of maintenance loan has been released to you and the first tuition fee to the university, are you still eligible for funding in future?
Please can anyone put my mind in ease?
Thanks!
Is the funding coming from SFE?

Hi,

I withdrew 2 months after starting, I kept getting letters to pay back the maintenance loans for the period i wouldnt be enrolled on (the loan is meant to last from sep - next payment date), i ended up rejoining at a different uni in jan so the letters stopped.

Best thing you can do is contact SFE and ask them, I know people whove done a course for 1 year and then pivoted to a different course and they didnt have an issue with funding but again best thing you can do is speak to SFE

Thank you for your response, so is that mean they are not going to ask for compelling personal reasons?
I started on 24th and I withdrew on the same day so I assume I’ve done it during the cooling off period.

Yes from sfe

Thanks for confirming. I've moved your thread to the 'Ask SFE' section where a rep can give you the official answer.

Hi there. It all depends if the university confirmed you attended to us or not. If they tell us it's a non-attendance withdrawal, it isn't considered and you will be contacted to pay us the money you have been paid back.

If they tell us you attended, this would be classed as using a year of funding, even if you only attended for a short period. Again, you will be contacted to pay back any maintenance loan you were not entitled to.

If you have never used a year of funding previously and this is your first time, then you will have enough for a new course, but you would lose the additional year we normally give for any repeat years. Thanks, Leah.

Hi, is it even if I have attended for example just for a day this year? Do I still qualify for a funding?
Thank you

Hi,

If you attended for 1 day the university have the right to charge you fees and its counted as a full year in SFE's eyes.

Thanks,

Hi,
In that case I am still eligible for a funding right? For future courses

Hi there, yes, if you have only used the 1 year of support, then this would mean that the additional year has been used, but you would still be eligible for to apply for a new course and receive further support. Stephen

Hi, without the need to provide cpr right?

Yes, that's correct. You would only need to supply CPR if you have to repeat a year. Thanks, Leah.
