Kai’s Chaotic Y13 GYG (2025/2026)

Hey guys 👋 I made a GYG at some point in Y12 and never stuck to it (this was reflected on my atrocious AS-Level results, which still haunt me), but I’ve decided the right thing to do is be responsible and hold myself accountable (I never revised 😬)

I feel like having other people who are in the same mindset might help to motivate me just a little more, as for months I’ve had no drive to succeed or even go to uni anymore. I’m trying to get this passion going again by slowly easing myself into a more achievable revision schedule.

Luckily, I didn’t fail any of my AS-Levels, so I’m currently still doing:
- Physics (AQA)
- Maths (Edexcel)
- D&T Engineering (OCR)

My dream uni is Sheffield, and I’m wanting to study Astrophysics there next year. I’ve been considering a few other choices as well (Royal Holloway, Lancaster, Edinburgh, York, Lincoln, Manchester), but I need top grades to get into any of these.

I know a lot of people at this point would say that “it’s too late”, but I want to at least try and do better in my exams next year.

As for my actual new revision schedule, I don’t want to be limited by allocated time blocks; instead, I want to set myself a weekly goal in hours for each subject, as well as a few big goals (past papers, worksheets etc.) and smaller ones (flash cards, folder organisation) every week for each subject too. I feel like when I’d tell myself “I have to revise maths for 1 hour at 17:00 every Thursday”, by the time Thursday came around, I would either say “I don’t want to revise maths, so I just won’t revise at all”, or “I’ll do it tomorrow “, which I never did anyways.

This year, I want to work hard but actually feel like it’s paying off, so I’m going to try and do more past papers too (I did about 3 in Y12 that weren’t in-school mocks😭), as well as any other active revision techniques (if anyone has ANY recommendations at all, please let me know).

My goal for this GYG is to check in at least twice a week (ideally every day, but I doubt I will) and update on my revision progress and any other things like that.

I’m also going to try and include non-school goals, like sleep, water intake, hobbies etc. This way, I can continue to have a healthy life outside of Sixth Form, and I feel like if I have a better balance, I’ll be more motivated to revise and do well in general.

Also, if anyone would like to be study buddies please let me know! You don’t need to be doing the same or similar subjects to me, but that might help for revision tips and homework help etc.

That’s all for now! (Sorry it’s so long😭)

Good luck everybody!! I hope you’ve had a good week!

Week Beginning 29/09/25
Study hours : 20
Sleep : not great 😞
Reading : The Art of War - Sun Tzu
To-Do for Next Week :

finish maths catch-up

finish physics lab book work

catch-up on my engineering NEA coursework

physics and maths past-papers

engineering flashcards

Y12 physics review

increase water intake (ideally 2L a day)

try to go to sleep and wake up earlier (22:00 - 06:00)

Next week I'm going to try and do more active revision for physics, as well as make flashcards from my engineering textbook (which I still haven't read yet💀). My idea of maths revision at the moment is just reading ahead and catching up on work, which isn't the most effective, but I'm going to try and do some past papers for pure maths and physics paper 1 soon, as i feel like my exam technique is less than optimal 😅
Hope everyone had a good week!
