Overpayment and urgent evidence processing

Hello

I am now in my final year of an undergraduate course and my SF shows no signs of being paid soon because of a claimed overpayment in a previous year. I have submitted the requested hardship form.

I depend entirely on my student finance and because of my personal circumstances it is urgent that it is paid as soon as possible. I do not have family to fall back on and with my course having started on 22nd I am now in danger of falling significantly behind academically.

I tried to communicate this on the phone but they simply referred me to the 17 working days. This is far too long for me to wait, is there anything that can be done to escalate it?

Many thanks

Hi there. There is no option to escalate financial hardship claims, unfortunately. It is processed in date order, as we cannot prioritise one financial hardship case over another to be fair to all students. We would advise to speak with your university regarding this, as they may be able to help from their own hardship department and offer advice.

The following charities are available for students if you require additional help:
www.citizensadvice.org.uk/debt-and-money
www.turn2us.org.uk
www.prospects.ac.uk
www.stepchange.org

Thanks, Leah.
