Should I apply to QMUL

Hi everyone,

I’m applying for 2026 entry and I’m not sure where my choices would be best placed.

Predicted: A*A*A at A-Level
GCSEs: 9999888885
UCAT: 2,130 Band 1
WPUKMED - through brightmed

I’d ideally like to be in London, so I’m currently thinking:

Queen Mary’s
St George’s
BSMS (as an insurance option through BrightMed)

I was also wondering whether applying to King’s would be too ambitious with my stats, or if Queen Mary’s might be as well? I’m considering Manchester too, since I’m eligible for their guaranteed interview scheme, but that would take me further away from London.

Would it be too risky to apply to three London unis plus BSMS, or do you think that’s a sensible spread? Any advice on where else might be realistic/worth considering would be really helpful.

Thanks!

Frankly, your UCAT score might be a bit marginal. All UK medical programmes are "accredited" or "regulated" so you need not think of reputation, ranking etc of unis. Perhaps you may consider playing safe by picking a few unis lower on your list. Good luck.

I'm hoping it will push into the 8th deciles once the actual ones come out, do you still think that's too low form QMUL? I'm not really considering the ranking really, more about location, it's a dream to study in London, perhaps st George's? Thank you !

You have 5 UCAS choices so it's good to have aspirational choices like QMUL and St George's. You may also add some safer choices.

Studying in London is definitely fascinating. Also be prepared for the ultra high living costs.

Yes definitely, I have a garenteed interview for bsms and 5 other unis if I apply to them as my safe choices. Is QMUL really that aspirational, I thought my application suited their cutoffs ect ect ok ish

Your UCAT score in old money is 2840, which is some ways above last year's cut-off so you're probably fine, but it's always hard to tell these things, particularly with the UCAT changes this year meaning things are little hazier to make informed guesses this year. So I do agree with the assessment to apply to other not so competitive universities. A reminder that you can only apply to 4 med options, not 5.
