Self teaching A Levels - HELP PLEASE

Hi

So I’m self- teaching these A Levels:

Philosophy - AQA 7172 specification
Psychology - OCR H567 specification
Sociology - AQA 7192 specification

I was wondering if I could get some advice on the best textbooks for these specifications? And if they are available for free online that is a massive plus as I’m already paying quite a bit to sit the exams.

I’m currently doing 15 hours a week, do I need to increase that time?

Any there any other resources that would be helpful too? Websites/apps to use?

Thanks!

Hi there,

so to get the textbooks I would suggest perhaps contacting old teachers for the exact textbook you would need to self teach these A-levels.

Also, to get them cheaply, vinted or ebay!

Secondly, when you say you're doing 15 hours a week - what are you doing 15 hours in/of?

Kind regards, Jenifer (Kingston rep)

The college have told me they cannot advise me on the best textbooks to buy… so I guess that doesn’t really help.

I’m doing 3 hours per day of a mixture of reading, making condensed notes, making/using flash cards and have also watched some YouTube videos on concepts I don’t understand. I do an hour of each subject per day 5 days a week!

There are two textbooks I use for Sociology which say ‘AQA A-Level Sociology Book One/Two Including AS Level’. Book one is white and red, and book two is white and blue

Hi! I'm currently self studying Sociology, English Language and Law. I have found that for sociology the best textbooks for in depth explanation (which is an incredibly important part of a levels- things going into depth rather than breadth) are http://amazon.co.uk/sociology-aqa-volume-1st-year-level/dp/0745691307 and https://www.amazon.co.uk/AQA-Level-Sociology-Book-2/dp/0954007921.

I've just started Y13 and in Y12 it is essential imo to be doing at least 50 hours a month. Though it obviously depends on your speed and ability to take on new information, because for me personally, even 50 is underscoring it because I'm slooowww, whereas someone else might do 30 hours a month and make the same amount of progress.

Is there anything I could help you with in regard to sociology? if so, let me know :-)
