The Student Room Group

Here are my stats and what unis I want to apply to, are these ok?

GCSES:
Chemistry: 9
Biology: 7
Physics: 7
Mathematics: 8
English Literature: 6
English Language: 7 (D)
Religious Studies: 9
Persian: 9
Music: 6
Geography: 6
French: 5

A Level:
Achieved: Persian (A)
Predicted: Chemistry (A), Biology (A), Maths (B)

UCAT Score: 2040

Uni Options (I can only apply to four for medicine, haven't decided which ones yet):
Aspirational: UCL (Contextual), KCL (foundation year course)
On Target/Only a tiny bit aspirational (I think) : Nottingham (Contextual and Ambition programme), Sussex and Brighton (contextual), St Georges (not contextual)

I do not know if these are good places to apply or if there are better places to apply for me, but I do want to try for London universities; however, if you think my stats are too low let me know.

I think this poster has already posted to the "which med school?" megathread so KA_P should pick up from there if they haven't already.

@Jonjon7 Could you help here?

Apologies, I don't have the capacity to keep track of this and so have not been able to advise on the megathread either. You're all doing an absolutely amazing job on there :hugs:

It’s a thread where prospective medicine applicants can post their profile and receive advice on what med schools would be best to apply to.

Not entirely clear what your contextual circumstance is though I think I could guess from your application strategies. If you are not comfortable in sharing your contextual situation publicly, do ensure you fits into each med school's criteria, especially foundation courses

UCL - does not offer foundation course to medicine and I can see you are applying for A100 under contextual. However do have a view on post 1327 on Pg 67 in this megathread for medicine application, I have some concerns about UCL upping their UCAT cutoff threshold to pit against Imperial this year.

This is the megathread that you can post to but will try to suggest something for you here

KCL EMDP - there is risk with your GCSE/UCAT combined.

With your academic stats n UCAT, it is very risky that you apply to both UCL n KCL, so best to apply to KCL only 1 as aspirational, not both.

SGUL - do double check that SGUL allow a humanity subject as 3rd subject for assessment. I believe they do allow. But I have concerns that your UCAT score is likey to be borderline for SGUL or below their cutoff this year. With the final UCAT stats published today, you do runs a risk applying to SGUL.

Nottingham - though contextual might help you, however your GCSE score will pull down your total score quite a bit. Not sure what your individual UCAT sections are to help score for Nottingham, so best you either provide a breakdown of the 3 sections, or visit Notts A100 to score yourself. Ideally for contextual, it would be safer this year that you are able to get above 65/82 for the new UCAT scoring.

Safer options, do not apply to med schools that scores GCSE - Plymouth (as I don't know what your context ual circumstances is, listing it here for you to check as their requirement for non-contextual is A*AA), Brunel, BSMS, KMMS (don't consider predicted A)
