A*A*B predicted grades

Hi guys, I am currently quite upset because I have wanted to apply for top universities for law but I ended up with a B as my predicted grade for English Literature. I am currently waiting on my teachers response to asking for a higher grade - I typed up an essay and sent it to her on Friday and she is giving my feedback on Monday - but I can't help but feel like I've ruined my future with this grade. I've been looking at Bristol, Leeds, Warwick, Southampton and Lancaster. Do you guys think I still have a shot with these predicted grades?

Your predicted grades are fine for Lancaster. It is okay to have an aspirational choice a grade above your predictions. Submit you UCAS application with Lancaster and one of your other choices first, wait to see if you get offers and then consider your options and add your other choices by the January deadline.

Also seriously consider a gap year if you don't get the offers you are hoping for but you believe you can achieve those A grades in summer. Then you will be able to apply with achieved grades for the 2027 cycle. All is not lost. :hugs:

Thank you so much! I am definitely considering a gap year ,I’ve been struggling with my mental health and alevels so it would be better to take a break until going to uni! I’ll apply to Lancaster and probably Bristol or Leeds and see what happens 🙂*↔️

Hello @clara342,

I’m sorry you didn’t get the predicted grade you wanted, but don’t panic

It might still be worth applying to the University of Southampton, as you are only one predicted grade below the entry requirements. If you are not sure, I would recommend speaking to your teachers and emailing admissions at the University of Southampton to see what they say.

Hope this helped and good luck!

Hey guys! Thank you so much for the responses they have been so useful🥰. Luckily I talked to my English Literature teacher and she predicted me an A! This year is going to be difficult because I have not gotten an A yet in English Literature, but I am determined to try my hardest and will also be getting a tutor after coursework is done in December. I think my choices now are Leeds, Bristol, Surrey, Lancaster and potentially Cambridge if my LNAT goes well tomorrow
