Which Russell Group uni is best for law?

QUB or Exeter, which should I go for?

Context:
I am currently reading law in a university in my home country which offers an affiliate program for LLB: 2 + 1, where you’d do 2 years locally, and your final year you get to go to the UK to any one of the affliate universities.
Ive always wanted to go to King’s but thats not there as a partner uni as of yet.
I have always wanted to study abroad, and the idea of meeting bright minds and participating in events and immersing in others’ cultures and just having a fab college experience always appealed to me. And since I only get to spend my final year there, rather than the 3 years, I really wanna have the best time in uni, and what I am looking for is not only the academic excellence and support rendered by the university but also the holistic experience and true college fun that one would anticipate, especially as an international student; the balance between academics and a social life.
So, if any of you are from either unis, please share your honest feedback and experience, whether or not youre a law student, and even if you went elsewhere but have insights regarding any of these unis or belfast/exeter as a whole, I’d love to hear that!
Thank you xx

Hi gcsetutorrysa,

I’m at Exeter, so I can give you some insight.

Exeter is really strong academically - the Law School has a great reputation, and even if you’re only here for a year, you’ll have access to excellent teaching, supportive staff, and opportunities like mooting, debating, and law-related societies.

The student life here is really nice. The Streatham campus is beautiful and green, with lecture halls, cafés, accommodation, and study spaces all close together. Socially, it’s lively but not overwhelming - there are clubs like Timepiece and Unit 1, plenty of bars and pubs, and over 300 active societies where people genuinely get involved. It’s easy to make friends quickly, which is great if you’re only here for a year.

For international students, Exeter has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. The campus is safe, community-focused, and there’s always something going on - from society events to socials and outdoor activities. It’s a good balance between strong academics and actually enjoying your uni experience.

Hope this helps a little, feel free to ask me any questions you might have 🙂

Hey Klaudia,
Thanks for your input!
Are you also pursuing law?
Also, for someone who’s a vegetarian and loves some good Indian/italian food, are there nearby eateries or grocers one could go to without burning a hole in the pockets?
And in terms of social life, on campus activities and off campus, what is it like precisely? Do I get to participate in like theatre club etc though I am a final year student and whats the south east asian/brown community population like?

Also, wanna touch more upon the academic bit you talked about it. Can you elaborate a little more on the kind of support that they provide and how they run their lectures? And does the support extend to work/internship placements and as an international student who is on a tight budget, are there any feasible job opportunities to take on that is lucrative for a student where time and tight schedules are concerned.
Also, how much does it cost for the accommodation if one is looking for a non-sharing room with an attached bathroom (non-sharing)? And its distance from campus? As well as transportation, could you provide some info on that too please?
