That's so mean ☹️ My mum has cancer, my boyfriend has chlamydia, my cat hates me, my dad drinks every other day, my teacher calls me useless, my goldfish doesn't even swim, my therapist doesn't even talk to me, my biology teacher picks on me every lesson, I have no grandparents (heart attacks), all the girls at my school bully me, my boyfriend is probably dating me as a dare, I have to eat lunch in the school bathrooms, my art is really bad so I can't pursue it as a career even though it is my one true passion, I like cheese toasties, I bought 3 gallons of expired milk the other day by accident, my pet rabbit keeps peeing on me, my friends are all dead (gang activity), I am secretly non-binary and I have undiagnosed asthma. Think before you speak.

no. im gonna be the bigger man. love and peace are all that matter in this world. you are all you have. when everything else is stripped away, when the noise dies down, when the crowd disperses and the applause fades, you are left with the quiet truth of yourself. money, status, validation—none of these will stand with you in the dark. it is only your own spirit, your own capacity for peace, and your own decision to meet chaos with calm that remain.
the world will hand you anger, it will hand you insult, it will hand you betrayal. people will break promises, lie with a straight face, and mock the parts of you they cannot understand. but if you answer bitterness with bitterness, then you have allowed them to write your story for you. if you answer violence with violence, then you are only confirming the cycle that has trapped humanity for centuries. the harder choice—the greater choice—is to step away from the pattern, to choose compassion, to disarm hatred with silence, to answer rage with patience.
being the bigger man is not weakness. it is the ultimate form of strength. anyone can throw a punch, but not everyone can hold their hands open. anyone can spit venom, but not everyone can choose silence when silence costs their pride. restraint is harder than revenge. understanding is heavier than punishment. it takes more courage to say "i forgive you" than it does to sharpen your tongue.
love and peace are not soft words. they are not clichés for idealists. they are the most radical forces in existence. wars are fought because of fear, greed, and ignorance. entire civilizations rise and fall because people refuse to let go of anger. and yet, a single act of kindness can alter the trajectory of another’s life. a single moment of patience can stop an argument from turning into a feud. a single choice to not escalate can save someone years of regret.
when you realize that you are all you have, you understand why love matters. because love is not just about others—it is about the way you treat yourself. if you constantly poison yourself with hatred, envy, comparison, then you have already lost. the peace you deny to the world is the peace you deny to yourself. you are your own mirror, and if you cannot stand in front of it without shame, then what have you truly gained?
so, yes, i will be the bigger man. i will not let you drag me into the mud where anger thrives. i will not match your cruelty, because cruelty multiplies. i will not answer disrespect with disrespect, because i know it corrodes the one who carries it. instead, i will walk away with dignity intact, not because i am afraid to fight, but because i know i do not need to.
i choose love. not because it is easy, but because it is necessary. i choose peace. not because the world gives me peace, but because i refuse to let the world take mine. i choose to stand alone if i must, because i understand that no one else can live my life for me, no one else can fight my inner battles, no one else can face the silence of my thoughts. i am all i have. and if i cannot find love and peace within myself, then i will never find it anywhere else.
to be the bigger man is to build, while others destroy. it is to heal, while others wound. it is to carry light, even when surrounded by shadows. and though the world may never thank you for it, though others may never recognize the sacrifice, you will know. and that knowing will be enough.
