What's the average day like in Kingston University for animation?

I'm interested in what the average timetable looks like for someone doing an animation course in Kingston university, e.g. how many days a week you're in campus or the duration of lessons etc. as someone who is interested in this course

Hi,

I don't personally study animation here at Kingston but one of the other reps did who made this great post does My experience studying BA Illustration Animation at Kingston - The Student Room and should be able to give you more of an insight as to what the timetable is like.

Tagging @Kingston Vee who should be able to help answer your question

If you have any questions in the meantime don't hesitate to ask!

Hi! Im currently studying illustration animation at university, please check out my blog as Grace has tagged as this should give you a good run down of my experience. Time table wise, the first year is quite fast paced, there a lot of short term projects in order for students to experiment and try out as many new mediums and techniques as possible. Compared to second and third year that allow for longer term projects where you can work more on the final outcomes. First year is all about the development process so the focus is on the different methods of making, not how the work looks in the end. The layout of the week changes a bit each year but generally you are typically in for 4 days a week, with Wednesday being a self study day. However there are online talks with professionals from the industry to watch, and some online tutorial sessions on how to use software like adobe and a life drawing class on Wednesdays, but these aren't compulsory.

One day a week there is a 3 hour class called CHS (cultural history studies) which is a more academic module on the course, for this we hand in essay assignments about twice a year.

Two days a week are spent in the studios for tutorials and workshops related to the current projects. These aren't typically full days

And another day is a full day in workshops such as a hand drawn animation workshop, print, book arts, reportage etc..

So overall, it is quite a busy course and if you attended the life drawing classes on a Wednesday you would be in every single day, but that class isn't compulsory so it is up to you to make your week busier. Hopefully this is helpful to you and let me know if there is anything else I can help you with or clarify.

Best of luck!
