A level subjects helpp

Hey, so I'm studying History, Law and Business A Level and want to study History at university (Cambridge, LSE, UCL, or Warwick) but im worried about my combination

Basically I found out at my old schools induction day that they weren't offering history, so I had to find another school really quickly

I originally wanted to do History, Politics and Economics but I couldn't find a school in my area which offered them

I know that business isn't a preferred subject and that not too many people take law, so I'm just wondering if this matters in the grand scheme of things when applying to unis (especially these ones)

Hiya lovely

I would consider your subject combination to still be strong, especially since you have History, which is the most important one for applying to History at university. Law and Business aren’t per chance traditional subjects in the same way as English Lit, Politics, or Languages, but they’re still rigorous and relevant, and lots of students get into top unis with them and found them relevant to courses they have chosen to do.

What really matters is that you’re taking History and that you do well in your subjects overall. Strong grades, a clear passion for History, and a strong personal statement are what's important, and you can definitely achieve that.

Although I believe it's worth double-checking the entry requirements for each university’s History course, just to be sure. Some will say History is required while others might mention a preference for another essay-based subject but they don’t usually exclude students for not having one.

So don’t stress too much your options are very much open, and if you focus on doing well in your A-levels and showing your enthusiasm for History, through your personal statement you’ll still be a strong applicant.

Kind regards Aneta PhD Chemistry

The LNAT will matter the most for Cambridge, LSE and UCL. You have A-Level History, Law and Business Studies and it is a nortriously difficult combination of subjects to achieve top grades but I know you can do it!!! 🙂 Good luck.
